Bangkok Challenge 2012

For my stop-over going to Mumbai, I was choosing between Singapore (via Singapore Air) or Bangkok (via Thai Airways). Singapore was cheaper by about 100 USD, but I still ended up choosing Bangkok.
Tuktuk drivers waiting for tourist to bring around the city.

This is the nth time that I am visiting this beautiful city, so to make this trip more exciting, I've decided to embark on a challenge: To survive in Bangkok for 3 Days/ 2 Nights for only 1500 baht (roughly PhP 2,000 or 50 USD).

These are my rules:

1. This should include all cost, meaning food, transportation, accommodation and tours, but will exclude unnecessary expenses (e.g. tip, souvenirs, etc).

2. This should start the moment I step out of the airport until I check in again for my return flight.

3. This should include a tour/trip to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

4. This should still be an enjoyable trip. Comfort and safety should not be compromised just to save money.

Also, I should be able to complete this 3 tasks/ chalenges:

1. Go to Silom from the airport for less than 100 Baht (ACCOMPLISHED! Details here )
2. Go to Damnoen Saduak Floating market for less than 300 baht (Accomplished! Details here)
3. Look for authentic Thai food at the airport for less than 50 baht

On a budget, I usually spend 100 USD for a 3D/2N trip to Bangkok, so reducing it to mere 50% of my usual budget is really a challenge.

Is it possible? We'll find out.
